Medina City Council, school board move forward with naming rights inside recreation center

After nearly two years of discussion, the city and the Medina City School District are one step closer to bringing advertising sponsorships into the Medina Community Recreation Center.

At its meeting last Monday, City Council’s Finance Committee authorized the hiring of an individual or marketing firm to seek sponsorships and donations for the recreation center’s interior spaces.

These areas include the field house, the pools, the fitness room, the track, community rooms B and C, and the front lobby and concourse.

The marketing firm or individual would earn a percentage-based “performance only” fee for bringing in sponsorships.

All sponsorships would be limited to a period of one to three years and would have to be approved by the city, the school district and the Recreation Advisory Committee, according to a Request for Proposal (RFP) issued by the city.
